City of Swan invites feedback on Ellenbrook Local Area Plan

The City of Swan is inviting residents of Ellenbrook, Aveley and The Vines to have their say on the future of their local community.

The Ellenbrook Local Area Plan (LAP) is being developed and community engagement is open until May 2, 2022 and will be used by the City to address local community issues and plan for their future needs.

City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said residents were encouraged to contribute to how these local areas would develop over time.

“The City values the voice of its community and asks the community to help shape how the local area develops over the next five years,” he said.

“We want to understand what matters to you so we can plan for the community accordingly.”

LAPs allow local communities to identify issues through a comprehensive engagement process, and for the City to develop high level strategic priorities for each area.

Pearce Ward Councillor Cate McCullough said population growth was a key focus for future planning in the Ellenbrook Local Area.

“Ellenbrook, Aveley and The Vines have experienced the largest population growth in Western Australia since 2011, with the population forecast to grow to more than 70,000 by 2051,” she said.

“The City’s priority is to work together with the community to produce the best plans for what these areas should look like in the future.

“The community are now invited to comment on the draft plan before it is presented to Council for review and endorsement.”

Copies of the plans will be available at the City of Swan Administration Centre in Midland and on the City’s website at www.swan.wa.gov.au/EllenbrookLAP
